Akilah W. Darden is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Architectural Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Marymount University. She is the founder and president of The Darden Group, LLC, a thriving construction management company. She also has an online course entitled Construction Management Masterclass.

Akilah and Travis L. Darden have been married for over 15 years. They have four kids, Travis, Jr (JR), Aiden, Alana, and Tiana who are the original authors of My Mom is a Construction Manager.
